PUTRAJAYA, March 14- The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) conducted inspections on 308 manufacturing and packaging premises suspected of mixing local white rice (BPT) with imported white rice (BPI) through Ops Campur.
Minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said informed that out of the total, 99 investigation papers have been opened for further investigation.
"The enforcement division has conducted inspections at manufacturing and packing premises, with 99 rice samples taken so far. Out of that number, 17 samples have been sent to the Malaysian Agricultural Research and Development Institute (MARDI) for analysis," he said.
"If the analysis results confirm the presence of local rice DNA in the samples, further action will be taken, including legal action," he said to reporters after attending the 2025 Consumer NGOs Engagement Day, here, today.
Ops Campur is carried out in accordance with the provisions under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 (Act 730), and legal action will be taken against any party found to be committing false trade descriptions.
Previously, MARDI, through the Biotechnology and Nanotechnology Research Centre, revealed that approximately 40 to 50 percent of BPI from 5,000 samples analyzed were confirmed to be mixed with BPT.
