KULAI, April 15 - The Johor government will launch the Johor State Green Policy mid-year this year, as one of the main steps towards realising the Johor Green Vision Goal 2030.
The policy, which was approved through a state government meeting, focuses on three main thrusts, namely environmental sustainability, renewable energy development, and the empowerment of solar energy use.
Johor Health and Environment Exco, Ling Tian Soon said, the state government encourages strategic cooperation between the private sector and industry players in bringing green technology to Johor.
"We want development and sustainability to go hand in hand. Many new technologies can be adopted, including fossil fuel-free transportation such as EVs which are more environmentally friendly," he said.
He said this after witnessing the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Smart EV Motion and Sun Bus Tech Facility in Senai, today.
Through the MoU, four high-tech companies from China and Japan will contribute their expertise in empowering Johor's green development.
As part of its long-term plan, Johor is targeting the installation of 1,245 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the state by 2030, a significant increase from the current 377 stations.
