Johor Floods: Number of affected residents reduced to 6,585 people

JOHOR BAHRU, March 23 – The number of people affected by the floods in Johor has decreased from 6,992 to 6,585 as of 12 noon today.

According to the State Disaster Management Committee, a total of 1,988 families are still sheltering in 44 Temporary Relief Centres (PPS) throughout the state.

Johor Bahru remains the most affected district with 3,435 residents out of 1,105 families placed in 15 PPS.

In addition, 15 PPS are still operating in Pontian, housing 1,419 people, followed by 12 PPS in Kluang with 1,300 residents, two PPS in Batu Pahat with 341 residents, and two PPS in Kota Tinggi with 90 residents.

Currently, the water level of Sungai Kahang in Kampung Contoh, Kluang is at the danger level with a reading of 14.83 metres, while five other rivers, including Sungai Lenik in Ladang Chaah, Batu Pahat, are at the warning level.
