Aidilfitri train tickets almost sold out, only 9 percent still available

KUALA LUMPUR, March 23 – A total of 178,148 tickets for the electric train service (ETS), KTM Intercity and Shuttle Tebrau in conjunction with Aidilfitri, for travelling period between March 28th to April 6th, have been sold.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said only nine percent of tickets are still available, with ETS tickets being the best-selling option, with only around 10,958 tickets remaining.

“For the KTM Intercity service, a total of 43,920 tickets are on sale, involving 22 trips which cover Shuttle Timur, Ekspres Selatan and Ekspres Rakyat Timuran.

“Meanwhile, the Shuttle Tebrau is offering 99,200 tickets for the Johor Bahru Sentral – Woodlands route,” he said at a press conference after the Souvenir Pack Distribution Ceremony for KTMB passengers in conjunction with Aidilfitri at KL Sentral Station, today.

KTMB is also offering four additional ETS services between March 28th and April 6th, involving two trips on the KL Sentral – Padang Besar route and two trips on the KL Sentral – Butterworth route.

The additional services were introduced after existing scheduled train tickets were sold out as of 9 am today.

Apart from that, KTMB also provides special Ekspres Lambaian Aidilfitri train services for the East and North Coast editions.

“This special train offers 312 tickets per trip, making a total of 1,248 tickets which went on sale on March 12th with prices ranging from RM90 to RM95 for a one-way trip,” he said.
