KUALA LUMPUR, March 3- The installation of solar lights in Kampung Sempadik, Pos Belatim, Gua Musang has been included in the Alternative Rural Electricity Supply (BELB) Project and has been submitted under the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK-13).
The Department of Orang Asli Development (JAKOA) stated in a statement that it is expected to be implemented in 2026 and will involve a hybrid solar system for villages that have not yet received grid electricity.
"Additionally, as an immediate step, JAKOA is identifying locations that require temporary solutions through the installation of solar lights in collaboration with relevant agencies and non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
"This effort aims to ensure that affected villages can enjoy basic lighting before the implementation of projects as requested," the statement said in response to media reports regarding the request for additional solar lights in Kampung Sempadik.
However, JAKOA remains committed to finding the best solutions and ensuring the welfare and well-being of the indigenous community are preserved.
