JOHOR BAHRU, January 12- Government agencies are urged to increase infrastructure projects, as well as hold special programs and implement project balloting for G1 contractors.

Deputy Works Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan said the proposal aims to address the issue of the lack of projects received by G1 class contractors, while also ensuring that work is distributed fairly.

He said they can also divide projects into smaller scopes so that G1 contractors can participate.

"If they can divide projects into smaller scopes, this will give more opportunities to G1 contractors. I would also like to suggest that the government hold special programmes to build more community halls, public halls, suraus, and projects suitable for G1 class contractors," he said.

He said this after officiating the Bumiputera Class F Contractors Association (PERKOBF) Johor Branch Annual General Meeting here today.

Currently, there are 67,300 G1 contractors in the country, including 5,452 in Johor.

Under Budget 2025, the government allocated RM450 million to empower Bumiputera contractors in classes G1 to G4.
