KUALA TERENGGANU, Nov 28- 18 schools in four districts, namely Kemaman, Hulu Terengganu, Setiu and Dungun, have been closed today.
State Education Director, Jelani Sulong said the schools involved will be closed until further notice.
In Kemaman, the closures involved four primary schools, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Padang Kubu, SK Pasir Gajah, SK Seberang Tayor and SK RKT Seberang Tayor, as well as Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Ayer Puteh.
Meanwhile in Hulu Terengganu, the affected schools were SK Lubuk Periok, SK Padang Setar, SK Tengkawang, SK Padang Setebu, SK Tengku Ampuan Intan and SK Kuala Ping.
In Setiu, the closed schools are SK Sungai Las, SK Kampung Bukit Ulu Nerus and SMK Sungai Tong.
Also closed were SK Pasir Raja, SK Jongok Batu, SK Minda Talong and SMK Kuala Jengal in Dungun.
Meanwhile, Jelani said that five primary schools and one secondary school that were used as temporary evacuation centres (PPS) were closed.
The primary schools involved were SK Kemasik and SK Telok Kalong in Kemaman, SK Keluang in Besut, SMK Langkap in Setiu, SK Tok Kah in Dungun and SK Pengkalan Berangan in Marang.
35 of the 41 schools that were used as PPS are still open.
