SUBANG JAYA, 9 April- Four food trucks operated by the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) Selangor together with the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya today served free food and drinks to victims of a gas pipeline fire at the Putra Heights Mosque Temporary Relief Centre (PPS).
The initiative, which was carried out with the participation of the Pasar Tani Agro Truck participants, not only benefited the victims, but also provided comfort to the frontline workers on duty at the location.
According to the Director of FAMA Selangor, Isa Hamzah, the response to the initiative was very encouraging when all the food and drinks were distributed within just two hours.
"This donation is the result of collaboration between participants and FAMA itself. We hope that it can at least cheer up and ease the burden of the victims affected at the Putra Heights PPS," he said.
Among the menus offered are kebabs, Korean fried chicken, geprek chicken rice and various types of drinks.
In a related development, the wife of the Selangor Menteri Besar, Datin Seri Masdiana Muhamad also visited the PPS to give moral support and offer basic needs assistance to the victims involved.
She, who is also the President of the Selangor Women’s Welfare and Charity Organisation (PEKAWANIS), said the visit was an initial step to closely assess the needs of the victims.
"I was able to meet several families and give them my moral support. Sometimes, in situations like this, they don't just need physical help, but also someone who is willing to listen and give encouragement," she said.
PEKAWANIS also donated stationery and reading materials to the children of the victims, as well as telekung and prayer mats to the affected families.
The two-hour visit gave Datin Seri Masdiana the opportunity to personally inspect the conditions at the PPS and personally comfort the victims.
