KUALA KRAI, April 9 - A teenager died after hitting a cow crossing the road at Kilometer 73, Jalan Kota Bharu-Gua Musang, Kuala Krai, early this morning.
Kuala Krai Deputy District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mohd Maizan Mustaffa said the 18-year-old victim, who was riding a motorcycle alone, is believed to have hit the animal near Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital, Kuala Krai.
“Initial investigations found that the victim was riding a motorcycle from Kuala Krai to his home in Kampung Baru Pahi.
“Upon arriving at the scene, a cow is believed to have suddenly crossed the road before the collision occurred.
“As a result of the collision, the victim suffered serious head injuries and was confirmed dead at the scene.
“The victim’s body has been sent to the Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital Forensic Unit for a post-mortem,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Maizan also advised livestock owners not to let their herd roam the roads, endangering road users.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and further investigations are still underway.
