KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 - The introduction of Euro 5 petrol in September next year will not lead to an increase in fuel prices.

Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the price of fuel, however, will be influenced by the government's planned system, which includes the targeted subsidy for RON95 petrol set for mid-2025.

"Every few years, we will upgrade the fuel specifications from year to year. For example, diesel has just been upgraded to Euro 5. The investment for this upgrade needs to be borne by oil companies, not consumers," he said.

He told this after attending the signing ceremony of the memorandum of understanding between Beverly Group, Samjung Tech and Parktech Solutions, in Kuala Lumpur.
