Eight injured as express bus carrying 40 passengers skids off road

REMBAU, March 12 – Eight passengers were injured after an express bus carrying 39 passengers and a driver skidded at Kilometer 245.5 of the North-South Expressway (PLUS) northbound, early this morning.

The Negeri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department Operations Centre said it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 6.01 am before mobilising rescue teams to the scene.

According to Operations Commander, PBK II Amer Izham Mokthar, the incident involved 28 female passengers and 12 adult male passengers.

“Six adult female victims suffered minor injuries and were given initial treatment by the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) medical team and members of the JBPM EMRS Unit,” he said in a statement today.

He also informed that two injured men were sent to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital, Seremban for further treatment.

The rescue operation involved six nearby fire stations, namely the Rembau Fire and Rescue Station, Kota Fire Station, Tampin Fire Station, Senawang Fire Station, Seremban Fire Station and Seremban 2 Fire Station, with a strength of 26 personnel.

“We deployed two FRT vehicles, one LFRT vehicle, two EMRS vehicles and one RRV vehicle to assist in the rescue operation,” he added.

The operation was successfully brought under control at 6.25 am and ended at 7.25 am.

The case has now been handed over to the police for further action.
