SUNGAI PETANI, 20 December - Civil servants are urged to enhance performance in providing the best service to the public following the first salary increment under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), which came into effect yesterday.

Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) president, Datuk Dr Adnan Mat, expressed Cuepacs' support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's call for all civil servants to reciprocate this increment by improving productivity and integrity.

"The return encompasses increased productivity and integrity among civil servants in line with the salary increase received," he said.

He said this to reporters after attending the Kuala Muda District's monthly assembly, here.

Dr. Adnan also expressed Cuepacs' gratitude to the Prime Minister for the salary increase, which benefits civil servants and pensioners, with the initial payment made yesterday.

Under the SSPA, officers in the Implementing, Management, and Professional groups will receive a phased salary adjustment of 15 percent: eight percent in Phase 1, starting December this year, and seven percent in Phase 2, beginning January 2026.

For those in the upper management category, they will receive a seven percent salary adjustment, with four percent in Phase 1 and three percent in Phase 2.

This adjustment was announced by the Prime Minister on 16 August.
