RAUB, 11 November- New houses that is to be built for flood victims in Pahang, especially in areas that are often hit by disasters, must be made taller.
The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah said that the houses to be built should be adapted to flood-risk areas because the phenomenon is common in this state.
"This is indeed a common phenomenon in the state of Pahang. Those who live near the river will face this kind of risk."
"I hope that, if there is a ministry, agency or help from the government or the private sector, if you want to build a house, let the house be a little higher," his majesty said when presenting aid to flood-affected residents at the Kampung Tok Machang community hall temporary relief centre (PPS) in Raub, Pahang.
Al-Sultan Abdullah was accompanied by the Regent of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah.
In the meantime, His Majesty also decreed for the river to be deepen, as an effort to reduce the effects of flooding due to heavy rain.
