LANGKAWI, Jan 15- Langkawi tourism industry players and local product entrepreneurs have welcomed the hosting of ASEAN 2025 on the island.
Those met described it as the best opportunity and platform to promote their services and products globally.
Tropical Charters Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Alexander Isaac said opportunities like this do not come often, so industry players need to take advantage of the opportunity.
"We are grateful that it happened here and I believe it will help boost tourism in Langkawi and we welcome the presence of ASEAN representatives for the next two or three weeks", he said here.
Meanwhile, batik-based handicraft product entrepreneur, Meor Ezammer, believes that this opportunity should not be missed by local entrepreneurs in building their brands internationally.
"It gives us the opportunity to highlight Malaysian batik at the ASEAN level and thus helps to raise awareness among people about how beautiful Malaysian batik really is", he said.
There are three important events in conjunction with the ASEAN 2025 Meeting held in Langkawi, namely the Financial Track Meeting which began on 14 to 15 January.
Followed by the ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Retreat from 18 to 19 January and the ASEAN Senior Officials' Special Meeting on Energy on 21 to 23 January.
