Anwar appoints four individuals to Judicial Appointments Commission

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 November- Four individuals have been appointed as new members of the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) for a two-year term, effective 1 November.

They are former Attorney-General Tan Sri Idrus Harun, former Federal Court Judge Tan Sri Zainun Ali, former Sarawak Attorney-General Datuk Seri Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid and Universiti Teknologi MARA law lecturer Assoc Prof Dr Hartini Saripan.

The JAC Secretary’s Office in a statement said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made the appointment in accordance with Subsection 5(1)(f) of the Judicial Appointments Commission Act 2009.

“The appointment is for a two-year term until 31 October, 2026,” the statement said.

The new members were appointed to replace Tun Md Raus Sharif, Tan Sri Suriyadi Halim Omar, Datu Abdul Razak Tready and Assoc Prof Datuk Dr Shamrahayu Ab Aziz, whose term ended on 3 September.

"JAC expressed its appreciation and gratitude for their service and contributions during their tenure as commission members," it said.
