All local authorities must establish integrity units by August 31

KUALA LUMPUR, May 1 - All Local Authorities including City Councils and Municipal Councils are required to establish an Integrity Unit by August 31, 2025.

The initiative is a step to strengthen administrative integrity.

The important ruling was announced at the National Level Governance Committee (JTK) Meeting held at PICC yesterday.

In addition, PBT liaison officers have now been instructed to report directly to the Integrity Unit at the State Secretary's Office to strengthen reporting transparency.

The meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, also emphasized the importance of compliance with the recommendations of the MACC Report 2017-2021, with a reminder letter to be issued to ministries and state governments.

In addition, the Public Services Department has been instructed to review the MyPPSM guidelines including external sponsorship issues, while the Ministry of Finance has been asked to consider the "Do's and Don'ts" circular on Procurement Implementation.

Tan Sri Shamsul Azri also reminded all secretaries-general of ministries to immediately report corruption cases as part of their performance evaluation.
