KUALA KRAI, 27 September- Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar hope that there will be an increase in the allocation for Islamic development in Budget 2025.
The budget will be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim this Oct 18.
"I believe there `will be an additional allocation in the 2025 Budget (for Islamic development) considering that the Prime Minister (Anwar Ibrahim) is a leader concerned with the development of Islamic affairs.
"We have also held an engagement session with Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan to discuss the matter (additional allocation for the development of Islam)," he told reporters after the MADANI community welfare programme in Kampung Telekong, here, today.
In the 2024 Budget, RM1.9 billion was allocated for the management and development of Islamic affairs and the allocation included the construction of two Islamic educational institutions, namely Kompleks Sekolah Menengah Integrasi Sains Tahfiz, Bukit Jalil, and Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Jempol in Negeri Sembilan.
Meanwhile, commenting on the doctrine of Global Ikhwan Service and Business Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH), Mohd Na'im urged all parties to give space for the Muzakarah Committee of the National Council of Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI) to discuss the matter.
Last Sept 11, police launched 'Op Global', a nationwide operation targeting 20 charity homes linked to GlSB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH), suspected of child exploitation and promoting alleged indoctrination.
Following the raid, more than 300 individuals including GISBH's top management have been arrested and 572 victims rescued. -BERNAMA
