KAPIT, Feb 1- Works Minister, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi today inspected the location of the landslide on Jalan Song-Temalat-Kanowit, Kapit, which occurred due to continuous rain over the past few days.
According to a post on his Facebook page, he said the situation at the scene was quite bad and could affect the safety of road users.
He has instructed the Public Works Department (JKR) to continuously monitor land movements in the area to avoid any untoward incidents.
"Repair work needs to be carried out immediately as this is a main road used by local residents. In the meantime, an alternative route has been provided for small and light vehicles," he said.
He also ordered that traffic signs and instructions in diversion areas be clearly posted for the safety of road users.
Meanwhile, he expressed his appreciation to all parties who acted quickly in dealing with this disaster and ensuring smooth traffic movement in the affected areas.
