KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 - Tourism Malaysia is targeting 45 million visitors to the country to further boost the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY2026) campaign.
Tourism Malaysia Director-General Datuk Manoharan Periasamy said he is confident that the target is achievable following the arrival of more than 38 million visitors to Malaysia last year.
"As of February this year, the number of incoming tourists has increased by more than 31 percent, reaching 6.7 million people compared to 5.1 million in the same period last year.
"Among the main contributors of tourists to this country are Singapore, China and India," said Manoharan at the 2025 Kelantan Tourism Industry Promoters' Engagement Session, yesterday.
Commenting further, Tourism Malaysia encouraged tourism industry promoters to take advantage of the various assistance and incentives offered by the government.
These include the Aviation and Charter Sector Grant, Tourism Sector Support Grant as well as Travel Promotion Matching Grant (GAMELAN).
Tourism Malaysia is also ready to collaborate with state governments, travel agencies and airlines to promote local tourism products.
