PETALING JAYA, April 11- The Malaysian Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) has issued a warning of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in several areas in four states, namely Kedah, Perak, Pahang and Johor until 12.00 noon today.

According to METMalaysia, the areas involved in Kedah are Kota Setar, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Kulim and Bandar Baharu, in Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Manjung and Bagan Datuk). Meanwhile, in Pahang, it involves the Rompin area.

In addition, the weather is also expected throughout Penang and Johor.

The warning is issued when there are signs of a thunderstorm with a rainfall intensity of more than 20 mm/hour that is imminent or expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single issue.
