ROMPIN, 21 February- An elderly man, who was reported missing yesterday after he is believed to have fallen into the river at Kampung Menchali jetty, Kuala Rompin, Pahang, was found drowned this morning.
The body of Saari Awang, 67, from Felda Keratong 6, Muadzam Shah, was found here by a member of the public at 7.45 am.
Assistant Director of Operations and Rescue Division of Pahang Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), Salahuddin Isa said the victim was found floating at a distance of 2.5 kilometers from the location where he is believed to have fallen.
The victim's body was later handed over to the police for further action.
Yesterday, the police received a report regarding the incident at 2 am, before a search and rescue (SAR) operation was mobilised.
Based on the report, the victim had gone to that location to fish before he was suspected to have fallen into the river.
