ALOR SETAR, March 23 - The special financial aid for Aidilfitri, Bantuan Khas Kewangan Aidilfitri (BKKA), is not only enjoyed directly by civil servants and retirees but also has the potential to boost the country's economy.

The Chairman of the Kedah Alumni of the Malay Students Coalition (GPMS), Shamsul Bahar Abd Rani, stated that civil servants and retirees who receive this financial assistance will spend it on purchasing essentials for the Aidilfitri celebration.

"When civil servants receive this aid, they will spend it, and undoubtedly, this money circulates within the country's economy. The benefits will not only be felt by civil servants but also by our traders, including small vendors.

"I am confident they will purchase preparations for the celebration as well as meals for iftar, allowing them to celebrate with children who recently received their UPKK results.

This creates a very positive and harmonious atmosphere in our country," said Shamsul Bahar to RTM reporters here.

He added that he is confident the Federal Government will continue to improve to ensure the welfare of the people is always taken care of.

Last Friday, the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, announced the BKKA of RM500 for civil servants in grade 56 and below, including contract officers or staff.

Additionally, a special aid of RM250 will also be given to government retirees, including pensioners, recipients of survivors' pensions, EPF retirees, and both pensioned and non-pensioned veterans.

This special aid involves financial implications reaching RM900 million, with payments to be made before Aidilfitri.
