JOHOR BAHRU, November 2- Residents living in dengue hotspots are recommended to get the dengue vaccination.
Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman Ling Tian Soon said the proposal to take the vaccine will be discussed in the Johor Fighting Dengue Special Committee Meeting.
This is following a 36.1 per cent spike in dengue fever cases in the 43rd epidemiological week compared with the same period last year.
"Residents, who are worried about the symptoms of dengue fever or the health of their family members, can take the dengue vaccination.
"It is a preventive measure against the disease. However, it is up to the person's choice whether they want to get the vaccine or not," he said.
He said this to reporters after officiating the state-level 2024 National Environment Day celebration at Sireh Park, Iskandar Puteri here today.
From January to October 29th, a cumulative number of dengue fever cases recorded were at 11,822 cases.
Apart from the discussion on dengue, the meeting will also focus on preparations for the monsoon season at the state level.
