Preliminary investigation results of Putra Heights incident to be presented today

SUBANG JAYA, April 4 - The results of the initial investigation into the incident in Putra Heights will be detailed today by Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.

According to Selangor Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, the results of the investigation will cover two main aspects, namely technical and negligence or criminal offenses.

He explained that the investigation into the technical aspects is being conducted by several departments such as the Public Works Department, the Occupational Safety and Health Department and Petronas.

Meanwhile, the angle of negligence or criminal offenses is being investigated by the PDRM.

"At this time, we have taken note of all the video clips contained in the information report and we will contact all the parties involved.

"This means that every day there will be a briefing. One involving the overall decision policy. Another, on the following day, will involve aspects of the investigation to whether it involves crime, negligence or technical aspects that will be presented by the departments involved", he said here.

Meanwhile, Amirudin also explained that the decision on temporary accommodation for the victims will be finalised no later than Monday after discussions with Petronas and the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU).

At the same time, the rehabilitation process for the affected areas was also implemented in stages after the security level inspection was completed.

Based on the findings of the State Disaster Management Committee, 85 affected houses were confirmed safe and the occupants of these premises were allowed to return to their respective homes.

"Damage was reported to be critical with 87 houses completely destroyed and uninhabitable, while another 148 required immediate repairs", he said here.

Long-term solutions are also being formulated with the assistance of corporate companies and NGOs for the victims in Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru.
