PUTRAJAYA, March 19- All mosques and suraus under the supervision of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (JAWI) have been instructed to perform solat hajat continuously throughout the remainder of Ramadan as a sign of solidarity and prayers for the Palestinian people.

Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr. Mohd Na'im Mokhtar, in a statement called on Muslims throughout the country to pray to Allah SWT for the safety and victory of the oppressed Palestinian people.

He stressed that the government strongly condemned the brutal actions of the Israeli regime which continues to violate the ceasefire agreement by launching inhumane attacks on the people of Gaza.

“Malaysia remains steadfast in supporting the struggle of the Palestinian people and will not remain silent in the face of this brutality,” he said.

According to reports, Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip have claimed 404 innocent lives, including women and children, and injured 562 others.

Mohd Na’im also called on the international community to take firm action to stop the Israeli regime’s violence and ensure justice for the people of Gaza.
