Number of people affected by floods in Sarawak, Sabah remains unchanged

KUALA LUMPUR, February 9- A total of 2,464 people from 763 families have been affected by floods in Sarawak, as of 6.00 am today.

The figure is unchanged from midnight last night.

The National Disaster Control Centre (NDCC) Disaster Portal, National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) reported that 16 temporary evacuation centres (PPS) are still activated in 10 districts of the state.

"Bintulu remains the worst-hit district; involving 600 affected residents.

"This is followed by Mukah, 439 people and Tatau, 439 people," the statement said.

Meanwhile, in Sabah, the number of residents transferred to PPS, remained at 980 people from 301 families, as of 6.00 am this morning.

This involves six PPS in the state.

"The affected districts are Beaufort with 530 people, Kinabatangan, (278 people), Membakut (159 people) and Tambunan (13 people)," the statement said.
