MAIPs catalyst for the development of the Islamic community

KANGAR, April 11– The Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs) not only acts as an administrator of Islamic religious affairs, but also plays an important role as a catalyst in the development of the Islamic community, especially in helping the asnaf community to break free the cycle of poverty.

The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said that Islam advocates balance in human life which includes spiritual, educational and economic aspects.

“Therefore, the MAIPs’ responsibilities are not only limited to delivering financial assistance to the asnaf, but also include planning and implementing long-term programs that can empower them to be independent and get break free from poverty,” he said.

He said this when chairing the MAIPs Conference, Second Session for the Year 2025 which was held at the Perlis State Federal Development Office, Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister’s Department (ICU JPM), here.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also expressed his appreciation for the initiative and high commitment shown by MAIPs in introducing various human capital development, entrepreneurship and skills training programs targeting the asnaf and middle-income groups in the state.

According to his Majesty, the implementation of these programs not only provide direct benefits to zakat recipients, but is also able to generate economic growth in the state and strengthen family institutions and society as a whole.
