LABUAN, April 30- A local man was fined RM3,500 by the Sessions Court here yesterday after he pleaded guilty to the offence of possessing 300 litres of diesel without a valid licence earlier this year.
The accused, Peter Ling Howe Fong, aged 43, was not represented by legal counsel and entered the guilty plea after the charge was read out to him before Judge Marlina Ibrahim yesterday.
According to the charge, Peter was accused of possessing the scheduled controlled goods, specifically diesel, which were stored in an additional fibre tank located at the rear section of a four-wheel drive vehicle. The incident occurred in the Bukit Kalam industrial area at approximately 11.40 a.m. on January 6.
The accused was charged under Section 21 of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and is subject to punishment under Section 22(1) of the same Act.
The case was prosecuted by Labuan KPDN Prosecuting Officer Azman Sumin.
In addition, the court ordered that all items related to the case, including the vehicle, hose, and electric pump, along with the deposit from the sale of the diesel oil, be forfeited and handed over to the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) for proper disposal.
