KUALA LUMPUR, September 4 - Chief Secretary to the Government, Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, today announced changes in placement and new appointments for 12 top management positions in the public service.
In a statement, Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri said, this move involves nine Chief Secretaries (KSU), one Senior Deputy Chief Secretary and two Directors-General, which will take effect from tomorrow and on September 23.
According to Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri, these changes align with the government's desire to implement public service reform, which requires speed, agility, and dynamism in the top leadership of the public sector, to face the new era.
This step also follows the announcement of the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA) by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, on August 16.
Among the changes in placement announced was the transfer of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (KPKM), Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali, to the Ministry of Defence.
He replaces Datuk Seri Isham Ishak who will move to KPKM. Both of these changes will take place on September 23.
Effective tomorrow, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (KUSKOP), Datuk Seri Suriani Ahmad, will be appointed as Secretary General of the Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud, will replace Datuk Seri Suriani at KUSKOP.
Other changes include the appointment of Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Unity, Datuk Azman Mohd Yusoff, as Secretary-General of the Ministry of Public Works (KKR), replacing Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad.
The Director General of the Implementation Coordination Unit at the Prime Minister's Department (JPM), Datuk Seri Azman Ibrahim, was appointed as the new KKR KSU.
Meanwhile, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), Datuk Ruji Ubi, will move to the Ministry of Education, replacing Datuk Nik Nasarudin Mohd Zawawi.
Datuk Awang Alik Jeman, who was previously JPM's Senior Deputy Secretary-General, was appointed as KDN Secretary-General, replacing Datuk Ruji Ubi. Meanwhile, Datuk Awang Alik Jeman's position at JPM will be filled by Datuk Abd Shukor Mahmood.
In addition, Muhammad Razman Abu Samah has been appointed as the Director-General of the Public-Private Partnership Unit (UKAS), replacing Datuk Seri Shamsul Azri.
This change in placement is expected to further strengthen the leadership and implement public service reforms more effectively in facing future challenges.
