PARIT BUNTAR, August 30 - The Kerian Integrated Green Industrial Park (KIGIP) aims to transform the district into a Green Technology Hub in Malaysia.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said KIGIP aims to prioritise two key considerations, particularly in ecosystem and supply chain, when implementing the project.

These considerations are made to ensure that people in the district are not left out. It will be coordinated by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB).

“Starting today, SD Guthrie has to think about investors, types of investments, job opportunities, training initiatives that people in the north of Perak or Padang Serai, Nibong Tebal can access. If there is TVET or technology nearby I will request SD Guthrie to take over and provide necessary training for KIGIP”, he said this after completing the groundbreaking ceremony for the KIGIP project in Ladang Tali Ayer, here.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Lih Kang and Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.

On June 16th, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim launched the KIGIP master plan to create talent and foster innovation.

According to the Prime Minister, the planning and development of the KIGIP was implemented holistically via the collaboration between the federal government, the Perak state government, SD Guthrie Bhd and Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB).
