JBPM performed 100 hours of Medevac flights throughout 2024

GUA MUSANG, 8 January - The Air Unit of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) carried out 100 hours of medical evacuation (Medevac) flights for patients to receive treatment at hospitals throughout 2024.

Head of Air Division Operations Management Branch, Senior Fire Chief I (PgKB I) Mohd Ruzaidi Ramlee said the flight operations involved three air bases at the Central Regional Base, Subang, Selangor, the Northern Regional Base, Bertam, Penang and the Sarawak Regional Base in Miri, Sarawak.

He said a total of 56 flights for Medevac operations were carried out nationwide last year.

"This involved 100 hours of flights and also out of 56 flights, 36 flights were in the Gua Musang area, Kelantan," he said here.

He added apart from Medevac operations, the JBPM Air Unit also carried out firefighting operations such as forest fire extinguishing, search and rescue (SAR) work, special logistics and aerial survey services, and parachute training.
