IPT, TVET must be strengthen to make Malaysia a top investment destination - Anwar

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim

KULIM, August 8 - The structure of the Higher Education Institution (IPT) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) ecosystem, which is based on new technologies, needs to be strengthened at a faster pace.

Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said that this has to be done in order to produce a skilled workforce towards making Malaysia the best investment destination.

For that purpose, he said it requires the cooperation of all parties for it to be realised.

“We have called on some universities and I am confident that Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM) as well as TVET institutions in Kedah and Penang will be responsive and implement changes at a faster rate. To achieve this agenda, all agencies, all departments and all levels of professionals must take this step and this needs to be emphasised.

“I believe, Menteri Besar and Cabinet Minister, shares this sentiment with me that we cannot expect to be considered as successful players in new technologies if we continue working at the usual pace,” he said.

Anwar said this when speaking at the launching of the Infineon Technologies (Kulim) Sdn Bhd Kulim 3 Building, here.
