SUBANG JAYA, April 30 - The initial investigation report into the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire incident is expected to be available within a week.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said his department has removed three specimens and is in the process of removing one final specimen before completing the initial investigation at the scene.
"I expect in another week's time that we will be able to remove the last specimen. So in a week, the investigation at the scene on behalf of the Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) will be complete.
"And specifically, we need analysis in the laboratory with the help of SIRIM to test and several other analyses that they need to do to get an answer, like how the explosion could have happened," Hussein told reporters after a review session with media practitioners to see the investigative work involving ground-digging at the location of the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion and fire.
He added that the location of the explosion will be handed back to Petronas after the initial investigation is complete for them to start on the restoration process of the gas pipeline in the affected area.
The Mineral and Geoscience Department (JMG) will also issue a report to help analyse the soil structure and other related soil tests.
