SHAH ALAM, Dec 13- The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) has not received any complaints regarding the incident involving the body of a baby boy who was allegedly detained for two weeks by a private hospital in Klang.

According to the Chairman of MAIS, Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, MAIS through its agency, the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS), is trying to track down the baby's parents to get real information about the incident.

"If a case involves hardship, there is usually a party that will inform the zakat board. However, in this case, no information was provided.

"If the information reaches LZS, immediate action will be taken to ensure validity, and provide assistance," he said after completing the release of the convoy for the MAIS flood relief mission here today.

Abdul Aziz also stated that the issue should not have happened and should be a lesson to all parties.

He advised Muslims who are facing difficulties, especially involving emergency or death, to immediately meet with the nearest religious agency to get help.

Earlier, the story about the body of a baby boy who was allegedly kept in a private hospital's freezer because the family could not afford to claim the remains, went viral on social media, triggering various reactions from the public.

In the meantime, Abdul Aziz informed that more than 100 children of former members of GISB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) who have not been claimed by their families are still following the special rehabilitation module implemented by MAIS.

According to him, all the children are still placed in a welfare home under the Department of Social Welfare (JKM) in Cheras, Kuala Lumpur.

"As of today, the number of children under JKM is decreasing as their parents have already taken them back.

"They (JKM) will check the birth certificate and so on and make sure that they are the rightful family and parents. The children will not be released to those who do not pass the check" he said.

Abdul Aziz said, in addition, some of the children are still in the process of identity verification.
