Form Six colleges will be established in Perlis

KANGAR, September 2 - The Regent of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail fully supports the desire of the Perlis State Education Department to establish a Sixth Form College in Perlis.

Aligning with the wishes of the Ministry of Education (MOE) in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) which is devising several initiatives for Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) students including plans to build a Premium Sixth Form College next year.

His Majesty's command of the Perlis Sixth Form College is seen as an important matter as a step to give focus to the Sixth Form Pre-University program in terms of the role, achievement and performance of students.

"A suitable land site belonging to the Federal Government should be surveyed for that purpose first" His Majesty said when agreeing to complete the symbolic handing over of Pre-University Immediate Aid amounting to RM 301,200 from the Council of Islamic Religion and Malay Customs (MAIPs) of Perlis to a total of 251 people sixth form students representing eight selected secondary schools in the State Education Department, here.

"The schools are Agama Arau National Secondary School, Syed Alwi National Secondary School, Tengku Suleiman National Secondary School, Putra National Secondary School, Syed Sirajuddin National Secondary School, Alawiyah Kangar National Secondary School (Girls), Syed Hassan National Secondary School and Donation National Secondary School," His Majesty said.

Each student receives a donation of RM1,200 which will be distributed to second semester students who achieve at least a CGPA of 1.8.
