ALOR SETAR, 29 November - The Muda Agricultural Development Authority (MADA) has taken some preliminary actions following the continuous rain in the Muda area since Tuesday.
In a statement, MADA said that the monitoring of the water level and river flow started as soon as the continuous rainfall and rising levels in the main rivers were detected.
According to MADA, the current position of the Pedu Dam level is 65.43 percent, the Muda Dam, 126.80 percent and the Ahning Dam, 98.16 percent.
MADA has also taken action to halt the release of water from the dams following prolonged rain in the MADA plains.
Apart from that, MADA has taken an early measure to channel excess water through the existing irrigation and drainage infrastructure since Monday.
These actions were implemented through the Lana Bulu System, the Alor Changileh System as well as the Central and Southern Canals.
Meanwhile, drainage operations through the Pelubang Barrage structure in Kampung Kepala Batu began to accelerate the water flow from Sungai Padang Terap.
All the eight gates of Sungai Kedah’s Tandop Pasang Surut and Ampang Jajar have been opened and will only be closed if the sea level rises.
