SEREMBAN, February 19– Since January, a total of 34 metric tonnes of coconuts have been distributed in stages across Negeri Sembilan through the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) to ensure adequate supply for the state.

The State Exco for Agriculture, Food Security, and Cost of Living, Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias, explained that this supply also aims to meet the increased demand for coconuts and coconut milk in preparation for Ramadan and Syawal.

"FAMA is currently acting as the distribution center for coconuts. To fulfill the needs of Negeri Sembilan, Johor, and Melaka, our country has imported 68 metric tonnes of coconuts from Indonesia," he said during a press conference following the Exco Weekly Meeting at Wisma Negeri.

He assured that the temporary coconut supply shortage was not due to reduced production but was a short-term issue.

Jalaluddin also reminded traders not to exploit the situation by raising prices unfairly.
