KUALA LUMPUR, March 31- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed continued solidarity with the Palestinian people in a phone conversation yesterday, on the occasion of Aidilfitri.
During the call, the Prime Minister conveyed Aidilfitri greetings to Erdogan and his family, and also expressed appreciation for the increasingly strong bilateral relations between Malaysia and Turkiye, especially following the Turkish President's recent visit to Malaysia.
Both leaders also discussed the situation in Palestine, with the Prime Minister expressing concern over the escalating Israeli attacks as Muslims celebrate Ramadan and Aidilfitri.
"The attacks since 18 March have nullified the ceasefire agreement and thwarted the peace efforts that were being planned," Anwar said in a statement via his official Facebook page last night.
Meanwhile, Erdogan reiterated his firm stance to continue standing in solidarity with the Palestinian people and emphasized the importance of international unity in opposing Israeli aggression.
In addition, the Prime Minister also received an invitation from Erdogan to visit Turkey in the near future.
"May the close friendship between the two nations, which is currently blossoming, continue to be strong and bring benefits to the people of both countries, God willing," Anwar said.
