KUALA LUMPUR, March 10- Digital Minister, Gobind Singh Deo, once again stressed the need to take strict action against individuals who incite religious and racial hatred.
He said the issue was discussed in a Cabinet meeting last Friday, where a decision was made to strengthen enforcement measures to deal with such cases.
"A statement on this matter was also issued by the Minister of Communications, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, on the same day, thus showing how important it is to give serious attention to this issue," he said.
Gobind also informed that police reports have been made and statements taken from several individuals. However, there are still parties who repeat the action, thus worsening the situation.
He stressed that the existing law is sufficient to deal with such offences, but its implementation needs to be more strict and effective.
"We cannot allow statements that insult religion to go unpunished. Legal measures must be taken to send a clear message that there is no compromise on any act of insulting religion," he stressed.
