JOHOR BAHRU, Nov 1-The Johor State Immigration Department conducted successful operations over the weekend, resulting in the arrest of 65 foreign nationals and two local employers in separate raids across two districts on October 28 and 29.
Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus, the Johor Immigration Director, reported that 33 foreigners were apprehended during raids on seven premises in Iskandar Puteri. In addition, four individuals were detained at a night market in Gelang Patah, Iskandar Puteri.
Further arrests were made in Johor Bahru, where four foreigners were caught, and in Batu Pahat, where 12 individuals were arrested, including the two employers.
The arrested individuals, aged between 21 and 56, face various immigration violations. Offences include lacking valid permits, overstaying, misusing Social Visit Passes, disobeying instructions, and harboring undocumented immigrants.
The cases are currently under investigation according to Section 61(1)(c), Section 15(1)(c), and Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1969/63 (Act 155). Additionally, the investigations will also consider Rule 11(7)(a) and Rule 17(b) of the Immigration Regulations 1963.
