BATU PAHAT, Jan 6- Five asnaf families in the Semerah State Legislative Assembly (DUN), Batu Pahat, Johor, can now return to their homes, after they have been repaired and rebuilt by the Johor Islamic Religious Council (MAINJ) and Waqf An Nur.
Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Exco, Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said the project began in September last year, utilising zakat money received by the state which amounted to RM306,000.
The renovation project of MAINJ houses was carried out in Kampung Sungai Kajang Laut, while the new construction project of MAINJ houses was carried out in Kampung Bagan Lama, Kampung Lapis Kajang, and Kampung Telok Bakong Satu.
Meanwhile, the new construction project of Waqf An Nur house was carried out in Kampung Sungai Kajang.
The renovation and new construction works on the houses were carried out following the discovery of the shabby condition of their houses.
Mohd Fared also expressed his gratitude to the zakat payers and charitable donors in the state, who played a role in making the projects a success.
