KUALA LUMPUR, August 28 - A total of 350 Jalur Gemilang were distributed through the Jalur Gemilang Distribution and Flying Programme in conjunction with the 2024 National Day celebration in the Little India area, Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, today.
According to Deputy Minister of Communications, Teo Nie Ching, more than 50 business premises in the affected area have received flags as an effort to further enliven the country’s historic celebration every year.
Teo added that various types of transport facilities are provided free of charge to the public, who wish to attend the celebration location on August 31, at Dataran Putrajaya.
“For the convenience of the public, we have provided 80 shuttle buses. Other than that, we also provide ferrying service for those who wish to participate in the parade on August 31st, at several specific locations (checkpoints).”
“You can leave from MRT, PICC and the Botanical Garden. These are the three locations where we have provided shuttle bus services,” Teo said to reporters today.
Water taxi services will also be provided in conjunction with the celebration.
The Ministry of Communication, as the leader of the programme, has launched several initiatives to enliven the National Month and Malaysia Day.
Among them is the Jiwa Merdeka Programme which aims to promote the flying of the Jalur Gemilang in government buildings in the Federal Territories of Putrajaya and Kuala Lumpur.
The 1 Rumah 1 Jalur Gemilang (1R1JG) programme has also been organised to encourage the practice of flying the Jalur Gemilang in homes and premises.
The programme is organised by the Office of the Deputy Minister of Communications through the Malaysian Information Department of the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.
Last year, a similar programme was implemented in KL Sentral, during which the Jalur Gemilangs were distributed to KTM and LRT passengers.
