223 PATI sent home: JIM Johor tightens enforcement

PONTIAN, 2 March-A total of 223 illegal immigrants (PATI) from various countries have been repatriated to their countries of origin throughout this week, according to a statement by the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) Johor on Facebook.

All repatriated detainees have served prison terms for various immigration offenses before being transferred to their respective countries.

Of these, 131 are Indonesian citizens, followed by Myanmar (44), Bangladesh (19), Thailand (10), Vietnam (10) and India (9).

The process of transferring foreigners is managed by Pekan Nanas Immigration Depot, Pontian, using various routes such as Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Stulang Laut Ferry Terminal in Pasir Gudang, as well as Sungai Melaka Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security (ICQS) Complex Ferry Terminal.

So far, Pekan Nanas Immigration Depot has repatriated a total of 1,178 detainees, making it the highest record achieved by the depot.
