KUCHING, March 13- Two men died after the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a four-wheel drive at Jalan Astana, Kuching, last night.
Kuching District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah said the incident occurred at around 11pm when the motorcycle carrying the two victims, aged 31 and 32 respectively, failed to avoid an SUV that suddenly turned at an intersection.
"As a result of the collision, both victims were thrown into the middle of the road.
"The motorcycle's pillion rider was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe head injuries, while the motorcyclist breathed his last while receiving treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital.
"The driver of the SUV involved has been detained to assist in the investigation," said Mohd Farhan in a statement this morning.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving which results in death.
