BEDONG, January 5- A total of 13 houses in Kampung Keda Tanjung Dawai, Bedong, Kedah were destroyed in a fire this morning.

The fire also caused burns to a man in his 30s.

Kedah Fire and Rescue Department, Assistant Director of the Operations Division and Senior Fire Superintendent 1 Azhar Mohamad said they received an emergency call via the MERS 999 line at 7.28am.

Several fire trucks from the Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) Yan, Guar Chempedak and Sungai Petani were deployed to the scene of the incident.

Upon arrival at the location, the firefighters found that the blaze had engulfed 13 permanent class A houses with an estimated fire loss of 80 percent.

A male victim in his 30s with burns on his hands and feet, was taken to the hospital for further treatment.

Rescuers utilised six streams of 10 jets to extinguish the fire and were assisted by a nearby Volunteer Fire Brigade.
